For many years, many orchestral musicians have looked to CC instruments as their Contrabass option.
However, many CC players are these days adding a BBb to their stable, bringing a different tone colour and resonance, not available to them previously.
In 1983, Mike Johnson pioneered the use of the rotary valve BBb Bass in the modern brass band. This is now available again, to the brass band BBb player, with the choice of 4 or 5 valves and
in 10 different sizes!

A new design (this is the prototype) and it's seriously amazing.
I've played the BBb Cimbasso from one of the Major German Manufacturers and I don't think it comes close to this.
In and above the stave it doesn't burble. It doesn't even feel like its in Contrabass pitch! But when you get down to the 'Cash register' its unbelievable. This is by far THE best Cimbasso I've played.
And I think you'll be surprised at the price!
